SMAC Running Club - Strength Motivation And Courage

Strength, Motivation And Courage, this is what the girls of the 2009 cross country team represented. These girls put forth all of their effort to support their teammates and to push themselves. Rebecca Schulte, Johanna Admiraal, Rita Maricocchi, Maria Weisgerber, Sarah Stark, Katherine Holly, Carolyn Eyre, Molly McGeeney, Brooke Skladany, Emma Shaffer, Catherine O’Connell, Elizabeth Holly, Allison Carter, Maggie Moeller, Lisa Campolongo, Kelly Fuller, and Jessie Geraci are the amazing girls that pushed each other and made the season SMACtacular!

The season started out with the Moeller meet. Each girl had their own expectations for their first meet of the season and got a taste of what was to become of a great season. The Loveland meet really set the bar higher for everyone. Seven people crushed their PR’s for only their second meet of the season, with the team finishing in 1^st place! Many more PR’s were shattered during the season and the team won 1^st place finishes at the Milford and New Richmond meets. There were respectable showings at Mason, St. Xavier and Centerville which were very large meets where SMAC placed exceptionally well at. City Championship is where everyone knew they had to bring their Strength Motivation And Courage. The goal was clear for everyone, put forth their best effort, push themselves and outshine their competition. And everyone did just that in their race. SMAC placed 2^nd, just 8 points off of 1^st! This just shows that these girls can be just as good and compete with the best in the city.

Throughout this season each girl individually met their own goals and pushed others to achieve theirs too. These girls not only learned how to run and compete well, they also learned how to be a supportive and loving team bursting with spirit. With coaches like Mark Holly, Dave Robinson and Cheryl Schulte this team proved they were unstoppable and will never stop chasing their dreams!
